Writing, Family and More
Note for future self – when you are sick on the weekend, it looks like maintaining your word count is entirely possible. Don’t slack off then.
I had another day where I managed to get my entire day’s word count despite being under the weather. That is a victory. Especially when you consider that we had 4 hours of basketball practice yesterday.
Yesterday’s focus was on the continuing saga of the dwarven settlers. They are surviving well enough, but the part I still don’t have is how they fit into the overall hierarchy of my 6-pronged story. I have some time to figure that out and will find a way I’m sure, but it just isn’t in there yet. With the other story lines, I identified the level “below” it in the introductory paragraphs though, so it is worth noting.
I’m excited that I am just a little over 5k away from hitting the halfway point and that I am slightly ahead of schedule. I’d like to be at a point where I have the extra “day” buffer, but for now I am happy just being where I am.
Most importantly, I’m still excited about my story in such a way that getting to it each day is something I’m looking forward to. In past years, that was not always the case midway through the month.
So coming up on the start of week three soon, I am excited about the possibilities and anxious about keeping up the pace. I hope everyone else who is writing this month is finding similar feelings cross over them.
