NaNoWriMo 2016 – Day 6 – 24721

I promised myself I wouldn’t stay up too late tonight. Given that it is a Sunday night and I didn’t sleep much last night, I don’t want to put myself in a bad position for tomorrow by staying up too late today. That said, I didn’t get much opportunity to write during the day today, so I knew I would be writing after the kids went to bed.

Luckily, the next segment of the book is coming along very well. I’ve made it through the first set of scenes for the second thread and I like how they turned out. I even read a portion of it to the boys this afternoon and while they had some constructive criticism about the product placement (I mentioned My Little Pony and one of the characters wears a Young Writer’s Program t-shirt), they were disappointed when I said I was done reading for now.

All in all, I’m happy with how the story is going so far. Usually by the time I hit 25k, I’m dreading some of the writing I’m doing or can see already the pieces that will need to be cut or rewritten. I’m happy to say, I’m not seeing those things right now. I’m just focused on getting the story out and how it will turn out.

Most importantly, I am still very much on pace for 100k for the month, even ahead by about a day and some. If I am going to make my goal, I’ll have to keep up a similar pace throughout, because there will most certainly be days that will throw me off.

Enough about this tonight though. I’m tired and need to get to bed. In the meantime, how is your NaNoNovel coming along?
