NaNoWriMo 2014 – Day 23: 2750

Not quite my biggest day of the month, but a solid showing nonetheless. I’m actually not even sure I’m done for the night, but I definitely will be taking a break before I continue further. My goal tonight was to get back to that 2k/day sweet spot for the rest of NaNo, and I managed that. For now, that is good enough.

The story has taken a strange twist into some events that are remarkably similar to my own past, which makes it easier to write and somewhat therapeutic in the way it helps me process those events. Makes it less about the dinosaur that originally was center-stage though, which makes me sad. I miss my protoceratops griffin and he hasn’t been present in the story for three chapters now.

Today was an absolutely beautiful day outside. I wandered through the woods in my backyard with Grayson and Kelly this morning and we talked about how some of the trees might have died back there and I showed him how the death of one tree caused the growth of the others around it. We talked about rocks and moss and lightning strikes. Such a good little walk. I should do that more often 🙂

When we came back, Grayson shocked me again with asking if he could help with the yardwork. I’m not going to turn him down, for sure, but I don’t know where he is coming from with this… helpfulness. I love it! Now to get the rest of the kids to model after their younger sibling…

Have a good night all. Happy writing!

2k per day is not a sweet spot. 1k per day is a sweet spot. 2k per day for 7 days is painful. 🙂 Probably the worse thing is I’ll probably run out of story between 40k and 45k.

You pretty much did 2k or more for the last week or so, how could that be painful. It isn’t like you were working…

I admit, I’m doubtful I’ll hit the mark with the current story unless I really start stretching things out. That said, I think there are a few loose ends that need to be tied up that could expand quite a bit if I feel like rambling.
