India Trip – Inorbit Mall

The first stop of the day on Saturday was to hit the mall. I think it is funny that I’ve been to a mall in India recently, but other than one brief trip a few weeks ago, I really hadn’t been to a mall in a few years.

The mall itself is not all that different than an American mall. Plenty of stores, specialty and otherwise, to cater to the people who can most easily spend money – which is to say teenagers 🙂 We made a few stops into stores and while I found a few things I liked, I was having a hard time picking out anything that I was willing to put money into.

The mall had three main floors to it, though I found out on Sunday that there was a “sub floor” which had a massive grocery store in it and there was another floor at the top with a cinema to it. The third floor was the “food court.” We walked around there for lunch and eventually settled in for some traditional Hyderabadi cuisine (in “fast food” format). One small difference from what I would call regular fast food was that we placed our order, found a table and then went back ten minutes later to get the food. We had some chicken biryani, butter chicken and some naan. Despite the fact that it was “fast food” though it was quite good and I would take that over pretty much any of the chains back home.

I did end up finding some gifts for my family, but not for everyone. I had to face the prospect that I would be searching for gifts on my own on Sunday.

We left the mall around 1pm and went toward our second destination: Salar Jung Museum.
