India Trip – Wednesday

Wednesday, 8:40am, Westin Hyderabad

Did not sleep last night, but kept to the bed as much as I could so I would retrain myself on what time it is. It didn’t help for last night, but hopefully I’ll make it through today and have a successful first day in the Hyderabad office.

Breakfast was much of the same – almond croissant, mango yogurt, tea, some more fruit and a sweet lassi. No mango lassi was found, but the sweet one was pretty darn good. I also had a fried corn dumpling that was quite good and spicy.

Wednesday, 11:50pm, Westin Hyderabad

Very long day today. Didn’t sleep at all last night, got to work by 9am and worked straight through until 11pm, maybe 11:15pm. Got to the hotel to have 20 minutes to eat, scarfed down what I felt was edible and then came upstairs to a beautiful pie delivered to my room by someone special. It was too overwhelming. I’ve been missing home all day and to see such a thoughtful gift, I just couldn’t hold it in.

I do miss home. I can’t wait to be there.

That said, today was very exciting. I met my three existing team members and the new guy who started today. We got off to a slow start, but I think they are warming up to me (and likewise). It takes a while for me to be comfortable in new situations and this was no exception. I had an assortment of problems to deal with today, but most of them were reasonable. Until around 7pm, when I grudgingly stayed while we went through some work that really shouldn’t cause us trouble and yet does every single time.

So I was there until 11:15pm, when I finally gave up. I had had way more than enough, I was tired. Cranky. Hungry. Tired. Tired. Tired.

And now to sleep.
