Proud Papa

When I first woke up this morning to pouring rain, I figured that my bike ride with the Ashland Bike Club was cancelled. However, when my father called at 8am to find out if it was still on, I checked my email and discovered it was!

We packed up the car and drove the four miles to the trail head in Hopkinton. It would have been just as simple to ride down to the bike path, but I figured this way would save the kids about a mile and a lot of hill at the very end. I am glad I did too – because it was very wet, the kids were tired by the end and we had a good time.

It took us an hour flat to go from one end to the other and back. A total of 7.7 miles overall. The trail was damp and the trees were dripping on us, but for the most part all of us were in good spirits. My daughter put up the most complaining on the way down, but by mile 6 seemed to have gotten a second wind and powered through it.

Overall there were 11 of us I believe, with four kids from 6-10 and a teenager. Although my kids and I took up the rear, having the company of my father on the ride was great.

I am looking forward to next week’s ride. Not sure I’ll be able to make it, but I’m going to try. Have a good weekend everyone!
