Sun is shining

If only it were a smidge warmer… I’m picky. Actually, I think my complaint about the temperature is more because I had arguments with each of the kids separately on what was appropriate attire for the day.

My plan for the day was simple: get the kids to sort out the clothes that no longer fit or they would not wear, feed them lunch and then head to the bike path.

Unfortunately, no matter the bribe, they were having nothing to do with it. Last year they treated it like a game. I guess they caught on this year… Still, with about a trash bag and a half of clothes to pass on, the goal was attained. On to the bike path!

Except my daughter didn’t want to go. She wanted to go to the park and then my oldest said he wanted to go to the park. And so my plans of going to the bike path were dashed. Still, just riding around the parking lot, I managed almost five miles.

In completely different news, some time ago, I was watching the Worst Cooks in America series this season and during one of the episodes, the contestants had to make their own hamburgers. One of these contestants, who Bobby Flay dubbed a “mad scientist” used cinnamon in her mixture. He seemed appalled by this, but confessed on trying it that it was pretty good.

Now, I am no master chef, but I do enjoy cooking and I definitely don’t consider myself a “worst cook” by any stretch. Is it really that unusual to pair hamburger with cinnamon? I’m not exactly sure when I started doing it, but I know the inspiration came from the seasoning mix used to prepare my family’s version of pasticcio (hmm internet searching is telling me it might be spelled pastitsio… not sure who to believe…).

Anyway – there’s a couple of random things for the day. Gearing up for a nice hike into Purgatory Chasm tomorrow.

It’s a woman’s prerogative to change her mind. 🙂 Don’t forget the Kentucky Derby today!

I already torture my kids with baseball and hockey. I think if I put on horse racing, they would revolt…
