Lost Steam

kettle with steam

I’m starting to come to the realization that I’ve lost the ambitious steam I had on starting to revise Jacoby Figurine. Don’t get me wrong, I am still investing time into it, but I am making a startling little amount of progress and this is starting to bother me. To be only through chapter four after about a month and a half is a bit disappointing.

Part of the problem I am having is I know I need to completely rework the last two chapters of the book into an ending that I think will work. I have avoided it for quite a while and until I can resolve it, I might have trouble getting further on the novel.

So, next week I have an informal write-in to attend. I am setting myself the ambitious goal to rewrite the ending into something that makes sense to me. This way, when I get to my write-in on Saturday, I should be able to delve back into the rest of the book, secure in knowing that the ending is taken care of.

Even if I don’t get through the entire goal, it should give me enough drive to really push forward.

Furthermore, I am going to give myself until the end of the month to finish the draft. This date I will probably miss, but I think it is a goal that is makeable and if it is makeable, then there is no reason I shouldn’t aim for it. This week is the week to get off my laurels and get it done.
