Day 26: Goal 1667, Actual 0

For the record, searching for images called “zero words” produces not nearly enough images that adequately portray this simple message… I am disappointed in the interwebs.

I also came across a website today that, when setting up a new account, does not allow special characters. Really? I mean, I have no delusions that passwords are uncrackable, but then, I also generally feel that most of my accounts are pretty worthless. I would not be happy to be proven wrong though, so please don’t go and try to crack mine.

On to the writing…

Well actually, I did no writing today. Well, non-work-related writing anyway. Work-related writing went really well today. I’m at the tail end of getting ready for a release in the next couple of weeks and that means that there is not enough time to get more stuff written. Today though, was a good day for that.

Creative writing though was foiled. And not for the above reason either. No. Not even close. I wish I could say my creative juices were spoiled on work because that would be just the kind of excuse I need to take a vacation (and I should…). No. Sadly, my creative juices were spoiled by the tainted idea of getting all/most/some of my Christmas shopping done today.

Unfortunately, my plan failed for a number of reasons:

  1. I am pretty sure that Cyber Monday is a farce
  2. I am pretty sure that to take full advantage of Cyber Monday’s deals you have to buy things you don’t want
  3. I am not rich enough to throw money away on bargains that I don’t want
  4. I realized that the 4 items I was going to get at one web site amounted to a net “savings” of $5 and I was going to be paying $7 in shipping…

Still, I did have a good time going through a myriad of sites and trying to find something… anything that I thought my kids would want for Christmas. Unfortunately, most of the nice toys I found were well out of my price range or squarely in the “I’m buying this for you but it really is for me” category.

And after I bought all of those things, I didn’t have anything left for the kids… I kid of course.

I definitely spent too much time shopping though. I have now written down precisely what I plan on getting that I haven’t already purchased and will make one whirlwind trip to the three stores I’ll need to hit sometime this NEXT week and get it all done so I don’t have to worry about it. (I had to strike through that because obviously, getting things done this week is a bad idea. I have a novel to finish. Christmas shopping can and will wait…

Until tomorrow – write some more 🙂
