Day 9: Goal 1667, Actual 1289

I can push myself to get that last 400, but tonight I’m not going to. I’m tired and it has been a long, busy and somewhat fabulous day. I’m already stretching my night beyond where I should be and I haven’t even stopped to give myself a break. So yes, I am taking my break for the night and resting comfortably.

Given the past week, I probably won’t sleep well anyway, but if I don’t try, it makes for a very difficult weekend.

Let’s focus on some good things here though. First off, after 9 days, I should be 30% of the way through the book. That’s 15,000 words on the button. I’m sitting at a comfortable 14,541. I’m comfortable because those 400 words that I owe tonight would just about close that gap. I’m not at 0, I’m not at 5,000. I’m at 14,000 words. This is progress.

Here’s another kind of progress. This is one of the people in my local area, one whom I am very impressed with.

On this, the 9th day of November, she reached 50,000 words. I’ve never had the pleasure of having a graph like that. I’m humbled and quite impressed. I’d like to get to that kind of furious production, but I suspect that will have to be later. For now, I’ll be quite happy with what I’ve got and strive for a little more each day.

Okay, I’m just about falling asleep at my computer here, so it is time for this writer to give his insane main character a rest. Until tomorrow folks. Tomorrow will be a different day. It might be better; it might be worse, but it most certainly will be. And if it isn’t, well this cryptic little filler at the end won’t matter, now will it?
